14th Transportation Soldiers vie for top spot in ‘Warrior Challenge’

Aviano took part in the second 14th Transportation Battalion Warrior
Challenge at Camp Darby, Italy on Nov. 20. The nine teams started at
3 a.m. with no breaks between events and beefed up challenges,

11/11/2009 FLORENCE, Italy- I went to the Florence American Cemetery
this Veterans Day to cover the ceremony by the Army and Navy JROTC.
I saw these four Italian men wearing baseball caps with the International
Police Association logo. I had seen these men before over the years
whenever I covered ceremonies in Florence.

During the month of November Camp Darby’s Army Community Services
is showing its appreciation for Military Families with a special
barbecue and new programs like the single parent support group.
One event that highlighted the sacrifices made by families
supporting their service members was a chili and rib cook-off and
barbecue appreciation event on Nov. 10.

U.S. Forces Soccer championship kicks off
CAMP DARBY, Italy- Under a regional Italian weather warning watch for
24 hours, teams across Europe converged on Camp Darby, Italy and waited
to see if the games would start as scheduled. Some joked that it was
the Chaplains benediction that drove the storm and clouds away.

27th Run to the Tower has record participation

had record participation Oct. 16. "This year we received 498 applications,
this is the largest number of participants in 27 years," said Ernest

Italian and American fire fighters extinguish fire
16/10/2009 CAMP DARBY, Italy- A fire broke out in the Camp Darby vehicle storage
area at about 4 p.m. Oct. 16. Around 30 personally owned vehicles that
were scheduled for demolition by a local company were destroyed by the fire.
